Marlaina Fulmer, a sophomore Communication major with a French minor, is a stand-out member of Women in Business. Outside of school, she loves surfing, snowboarding, & reading. Her favorite book? Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future by Ashlee Vance. Some of her other interests include breaking into the footwear industry, as well as real estate investing!
Within Women in Business, Marlaina is involved in both fundraising committee and marketing committee. In fundraising, she helped spearhead the pumpkin and apple cider donut sale hosted in the fall; for marketing, she participates in the analytics subcommittee and intends to help design merchandise next year. Women in Business is an important source of female strength for Marlaina. She finds inspiration in the executive board of WiB. Beyond providing role models, the club also has given her professional connections. For the summer, Marlaina will be working as a merchandising intern for TJX — she was motivated to apply because of Laurie Lynch’s presentation for WiB in the fall.
Aside from Women in Business, she also is a part of the Social Entrepreneurship Club’s executive board as their Social Media Director and Event Coordinator. In addition, she takes part in the Social Innovation Conference through the role of Marketing Manager and Co-Organizer. She also was a Student Ambassador for the Women of Isenberg Conference this year. For this role, as well as her role in the Social Innovation Conference, she acted as a panel coordinator to organize questions and communicate with her panel’s speakers.
